What is beeswax from cappings?+
Cappings are the thin wax lids bees build over honey cells. They are harvested when honey is extracted and are considered the purest beeswax — pale, clean, and free of the debris that older comb can hold. That is the only wax in a Lumea Eterna candle.
Do the candles smell of honey?+
Yes, lightly. There is no fragrance oil. When unlit you may notice a soft honey-and-wax scent; when burning, a warmer, quieter sweetness.
How should I burn a taper?+
Use a snug, heat-safe holder. Trim the wick to 5 mm. Keep out of draughts and the taper should burn with little or no drip. Extinguish with a snuffer rather than blowing, if you can.
How should I burn a pillar candle?+
Place it on a heat-safe dish. On the first burn, let the wax melt out to the edge so the walls do not tunnel. Trim the wick to 5 mm. Now and then, while the rim is still warm and soft, gently fold the edges in so all the wax melts and nothing is left behind. Do not burn for more than four hours at a time, and never leave a flame unattended.
Do you ship outside Latvia?+
Yes — throughout the European Union. Latvia from €4.90 (free over €60), other EU from €12.90 (free over €90). We do not currently ship beyond the EU.
Are the candles vegan?+
No. Beeswax is an animal product, given by the hive. We work with small Latvian apiaries and take only cappings, never brood comb.
